Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Kuala Lumpur today previewed its much anticipated new four-door saloon variant, the Ghost, to the Malaysian market.
The Ghost is one of the more ambitious Rolls-Royce model yet, capturing dynamism and instant recognition compared to the current Rolls-Royce range and remaining true to its prestigious heritage. This variant is truly a step-up from Rolls-Royce's Phantom line-ups which consist; Phantom, Phantom Extended Wheelbase, Drophead Coupe and Coupe.

The theme for the Ghost is the "Power of Simplicity" which signifies its high-waisted curves from the rear-end to overall aesthetic exterior appeal and agility at the front.

Colin Kelly (above center), Rolls-Royce Asia Pacific Regional Director, in his media statement said, "Ghost is a more informal design that broadens the appeal ofRolls-Royce Motor Cars, combining refinement, new technology and contemporary style."
"It uses some of the finest wood and leather materials in its interior and employs very high standards of manufacturing as it is a built to order vehicle," he added.

As we peeked inside, the Ghost's interior features a number of traditional Rolls-Royce design cues such as violin key switches, eyeball air vents and deep-pile mats complemented by optional lambswool materials, all contributing to an evidently luxurious feel.

On the front doors, the Ghost is integrated with Teflon-coated umbrellas which are stored in special compartments where water drips out of the car . The rear doors open to a 83 degrees for ease of getting in and out. At the rear, a panoramic sunroof offers natural sunlight for passengers, but for those who prefer a cooler environment, the Ghost is equipped with a four zon air conditioning including automatic air recirculation, condensation prevention and solar compensation. For total passenger comfort and entertainment, it is incorporated with individualized seats with optional massage options, a picnic table and two 9.2inch LCD screens at the back of the front seats.
Handling of the car is a breeze with the Ghost's four corner air suspension, the system can detect even the slightest twitch while on the road. In addition, it has a lift and kneel function which raises or lowers the vehicle whenever the situation calls for it.
Other Ghost's amenities comprise of; rear, side and top view cameras, night vision, head-up display, lane departure warning, high-beam assistance, adaptive and directional headlight, active cruise control with stop and go brake intervention and many more.

As noted, the Ghost is not only a visual step-up than the other Rolls-Royces,but in terms of power, it is simply a level above the others. As the most powerful Rolls-Royce to date, this car's powerplant comes in the form of a 6.6litre twin-turbo V12 engine with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Peak performance or output reaches 563 bhp or 570 ps @ 5250 rpm, while its maximum torque is able to fulfill 780 Nm @ only 1500 rpm. This gargantuan goes from 0 - 100km/h in 4.9 seconds with a top speed of up to 250km/.h. Of course, with that much power, Rolls-Royce hasn't forgotten to observe the Ghost's fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions which read 13.6 per 100km and 317g/km respectively. For overall stability, the Ghosts relies on anti-roll stabilization, dynamic brake control and stability, traction control and cornering brake control.
Malaysia's first customer cars are expected to be delivered in the second quarter of the year with the Ghost carrying a price tag of a whopping RM 4.1 million. Price for other Rolls-Royce models start from RM 2.6 Million.
