Ferrari Importers Naza Italia today brought forth another variant of the 458 Italia; this time the 458 Spider. After months in the shade, Naza Italia had added its eighth variant to the Ferrari line-up: the 430, 599 GTB Fiorano, 612 Scaglietti, FF, California, Scuderia Spider and 458 Italia.

The 458 Spider thus became the latest variant to the 458 Italia range, expanding the range of mid-rear engined V8 and open-top configuration Ferraris. Equipped with a retractable aluminium hard top, the 458 Spider is the world’s first sports car with this lay-out; that's 25kg lighter than soft-top quieter and thermally efficient. The open-top cover takes just 14 seconds to open and close and occupies a fraction of the space to allow a generous rear bench for luggage behind the seats.

Powered by a 570 CV 4,499 cc V8 and 7-speed F1 dual clutch transmission, the Spider's powertrain churns 425kW and 540 Nm of torque, as well as incredible 0 - 100 km/h dash and top speed figures of under 3.4 seconds and 320 km/h respectively. Fuel consumption and emissions ratings are kept honest thanks to the HELE (High Emotion Low Emission) system, in fact, fuel consumption on the combined cycle stands at 11.8 l/100 km with CO2 emissions of 275 g/km.

The rear windscreen was designed to double as an effective wind-stop to optimize the flow of air to the engine intakes and the clutch and gear-box oil radiators. The 458 Spider features a generously-sized adjustable electric wind stop which opens to a height that guarantees efficient aerodynamics, reducing buffeting in the cockpit and enabling normal conversation to be held even at speeds over 200 km/h.

The all-aluminium chassis incorporates new alloys and castings, also adopted on the coupé, which ensure the 458 Spider already conforms to 2020 safety legislation. New technical solutions adopted for the chassis guarantee identical levels of structural rigidity with the roof up or down.

Ferrari newest mid-rear engined V8 and the entire line-up are customizable through the Ferrari Tailor-Made personalization program. Now, customers who wish to differentiate their Ferraris can opt for optional accessories, materials, cabin trims, colors and finishes. Based on a longstanding Maranello tradition which began in the 50s and 60s, the Ferrari customization program is continued till today to suit the desires of each individual owner. In conjunction with the 458 Spider debut, Naza Italia is offering the Tailor-Made personalization program which allows a customer to choose from the three collections inspired by unique classic Ferraris and motor racing: Classica, Scuderia and Inedita.

The 458 Spider launch was graced by YB. Dato' Sri Mustapa Bin Mohamed, Minister of International Trade and Industry and Datuk Wira SM Faisal Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin, Joint Group Executive Chairman of NAZA Group of Companies.

Retailing above the RM 1 million bracket, the 458 Spider should ignite interests amongst Ferrari enthusiasts in the country.
