Samsung Malaysia recently presented the latest and most state-of-the-art Smart LED TVs that push the boundaries of innovation and user experience. The 2012 Samsung Smart TV line-up offers users three life-enriching, highly interactive solutions in the form of Smart Interaction, Smart Content and Smart Evolution.
The 2012 Smart TVs from Samsung consist the flagship LED ES8000, ES750 and ES6800. These new Smart TVs incorporates technology that is set to redefine home entertainment.

A Smart TV isn't a TV which has been embedded with PC-like features. We’re talking a truly converged device which streams to multiple devices, searching desired content over DLNA-connected devices, web browsing right from the TV, social networking with friends and family screen-on-screen and extending features through apps! Yes, all on your TV. In efforts to bring the future of home entertainment to the present time, Samsung's latest Smart TVs' now come with interaction, content and evolution capabilities. Smart interaction is an intuitive platform offering motion control, voice control and face recognition commands for the TV, replacing a standard remote control. With Smart content, users get enhanced contents and connection abilities. Last, but not least, the Smart evolution feature allows users' to acquire tomorrow's technology today.
Technology isn't the only highlight of the new Samsung Smart TVs as the design of the Smart TVs is the other highlight to behold. Slim bezel completed by a stylish arch flow and large screen size of up to 60-inch makes either of the Smart TVs a natural fit to any living space within a home. Inside, a dual-core processor powers the TV. allowing users to multitask; be it, surfing the internet and downloading apps or browsing apps. In addition, the micro dimming lets viewers appreciate rich colors, brighter pictures and higher contrast ratio by analyzing and automatically adjusting the picture quality, in other words, this function eliminates 'halo' effect and image distortion.

Motorsportchannel.com's Tech Team had the privilege to try out the acclaimed Samsung Smart TV, specifically the Samsung LED 8000 Smart Series TV (UN55ES8000F), most recently. The LED 8000 Smart Series TV isn’t Samsung's flagship model, as that honor belongs to the 60″ LED 8000 (UN60ES8000F). Both models share similar innovative features and specifications. Samsung’s TV and AV strategy as observed during the Smart TVs introduction, is built on three main pillars — Smart Interaction, Smart Content, and Smart Evolution.


Smart Interaction
There are several ways to interact and control the TV. With each Smart TV, you get two remote controllers – one conventional with a multitude of buttons and one with full touch controls called Smart Touch Remote Control. The fun part comes in the form of Voice Control. Say “Hi TV”, and watch the TV come to life with a menu of options appearing at the bottom of the screen. Switch channels, control volume, mute, access Smart Apps and further options. The Smart Touch remote also features a mic built-in for voice commands.
If voice isn’t your thing, Samsung has also built Gesture Control into the TV. Hold your hand up for a couple of seconds and a cursor would appear onscreen.Use hand gestures to navigate through menus and options. It does need a little getting used to and can get tiring after a while. Next, the face recognition is made possible with the inclusion of a front facing camera. This feature is obviously for login and personalization purposes. Additionally, it acts as a one-ID login for your social networks.

Smart Content
Apps and more Apps...Samsung has refined and improved the user interface and user experience of its SMART Hub. Featuring snazzier icons and overall more pleasant interface, Smart Hub is the center of all your digital content including TV apps, services, social networking and web browsing. With the recent partnership with Viki, consumers get to high-quality HD TV shows, movies and entertainment news from around the world and subtitled in multiple languages. With over 1 billion streams and 200 million words subtitled in over 150 languages, Other Samsung pre-installed apps include; Family Story, Fitness and Kids stuff. You can of course do your favorite web browsing, Facebook and Twitter on the Smart TV, and even Skype via their respective apps. By the way, since Smart Hub platform was launched in 2008, there are already over 28,000 apps readily available.
With Samsung’s AllShare Play app, the user is able to connect to the TV via a compatible Samsung Smartphone through Wi-Fi Direct. The user is then able to play the phone's contents on the TV. The AllShare is Samsung’s content sharing service that allows you to search for and play video, photo, and music files freely across many devices that support AllShare services, such as PC, TV, mobile phone, and digital camera. You can do this either wirelessly or with a cable.
Smart Evolution
There’s one thing to invest in a top-of-the-line TV and have it obsoleted in a year. Samsung has what they call an Evolution Kit. It’s exactly what the name says. It’s an upgrade kit that lets you easily enjoy upgrades to the latest technology services on your TV. At the back of each 2012 Smart TV models, just slot in the Evolution Kit to enjoy advancements in both TV hardware and software. No need to purchase a new TV every year!
3D and the TV Evolution begins
The 55″LED 8000 Series TV comes with a pair of active 3D glasses. Turn your 2D content into 3D on-the-fly and also control the level of depth you require. With some interesting features experienced on Samsung’s Smart TV during the session, we are compelled to think that this could very well be the future of our living room or space. Particularly Samsung’s take on connectivity, interactivity and content. And we’re only at the beginning of the journey. Things will get better, more interesting as we progress further...
