adidas Malaysia last week introduced the latest 'weapon' on the football pitch – the adidas Predator Lethal Zones. Complete with five deadly zones for controlling the game, the Predator Lethal Zones positions an arsenal of possibilities at a player’s feet; one zone for dribble, first touch, sweet spot, drive and pass. The new Predator football boots aim to provide the individual the 'Perfect Ball Control'.
World-class players such as Van Persie (Netherlands/Arsenal FC), Xavi (Spain/FC Barcelona), Nasri (Manchester City FC), Nani (Manchester United FC) and Di Maria (FC Real Madrid) have tested and contributed valuable input to the development of Predator Lethal Zones which debuted on the pitches across the globe including the recently concluded UEFA EURO 2012 championship.
Let's explore a little further into the Predator boots: the boot is composed of super-light (SL) rubber and memory foam with 3-D print for perfect ball control with every touch and are developed independently to provide unique benefits. These benefits include the five essential football fundamentals from dribbling to passing.
One of the Predator boot's key attributes is dribbling, a technique now made even more effective thanks to the adidas Predator's SL rubber. The ribs of the rubber positioned on the lateral side of the boot are designed to provide a small contact surface area with the ball and configured for a large number of quick ball contacts, spaced out to ensure optimum grip.
Next, the boot offers larger contact surface on the forefoot (with recessed ribs) compared to traditional footie gear with the First Touch. The large contact surface simply creates a vacuum effect for instant control, cushioning and stopping the ball immediately. Sweet Spot, on the other hand, generates greater spin and pace when striking the ball. The base is connected with raised 3-D ribs to create an enhanced contact time on the ball.
Fourth is the Drive element, an essential strikers' key zone. The raised and thicker 3-D shape on the forefoot follows the natural shape of the instep and creates a rebound effect for greater distance. Last, but not least the Pass, now made even more effective by the Predator boot. The boot's memory foam ensures consistency of passing, and a 3-D sticky print with large surface area increases ball contact time for more precise passing.
Supporting the zones is a newly engineered Hybridtouch upper which combines the benefits of leather and synthetic – comfort, stability, reduced water uptake and the highest quality feel in all weather conditions.
In addition, the Predator Lethal Zones is the first miCoach enabled Predator boot, which means players can now track their performance stats such as distance, sprint count and maximum speed, then wirelessly transfer the data to a mobile phone or PC.
The boot also integrates the revolutionary Sprint Frame outsole construction featured in the adizero f50, offering the perfect balance between light weight (225g) and stability as well as the Traxion 2.0 stud configuration which ensures maximum grip and acceleration.
“For the first time ever, Predator wearers have the complete weapon of control. adidas has been working with elite and amateur players for a number of years, and with Lethal Zones we have taken the Predator to a whole new level,” said Max An, Country Manager of adidas Malaysia.
