Domestic motorcycle distributors Boon Siew Honda today unveiled the latest mid-range motorcycle CBR 1000RR and motocross variant CRF250L. The new Honda bikes absolutely differ in characteristics and riding purposes, but similar in Honda's pursuit of the essence of realizing dreams. The Super Sports CBR1000RR is built for speed and complete control, while the CRF250L is a dual-purpose bike for some city riding and lots of off-road.
Spawned from the race tracks, the CBR 1000RR is all about precision handling, maximum control and speed for aficionados and professional riders. The bike embodies the principles of compact dimensions, a light and stylish frame and mass centralization. Eventhough the CBR1000RR retains a 999cc liquid-cooled 4-stroke DOHC inline 4-cylinder engine; a new Dual Sequential Fuel Injection system (PGM-DSFI) has been incorporated to allow a smoother ride and improve the rider's confidence when taking hard corners. Features like assisted slipper clutch. new suspension settings with Showa's Advanced Balance Free Rear cushion, piston front fork all contribute to the bike's overall stability and handling characteristics.
The 12-spoke cast aluminium wheels provide more consistent rigidity, working with the forks for improved handling. Likewise, the four-piece aluminium frame balances the strength, rigidity and lightness required for both race bike-like handling and a upside differential power-to-weight ratio. The frame also contributes to the centralization of mass, typical of Honda's racing and road-going bikes.
In addition, the CBR's handling is further assisted by the 2nd generation Electronic Steering Damper (HESD). The HESD ensures high-speed stability and low-speed responsiveness, whilst the bike's Multi-function instrument panel displays all essential information such as gears, temperature, speed, 5-level shift rpm and more. The customizable tachometer is easy to read in all light conditions and viewable in four modes: Conventional, Reversed, Peak Hold and Single segment.

The Motocross CRF250L presents off-road riding opportunities to the fullest. Based on the legendary XL series, this multi-purpose bike combines competition-level off-road performance with responsive handling and practicality.
The motocross bike is equipped with a semi-double cradle steel frame chassis that provides the strength and toughness needed for off-road riding. Its wheelbase design gives the machine very able stability and agility supporting two adults plus a 5kg load.
Meantime, the chassis encases a newly developed liquid-cooled four-stroke single-cylinder 250cc DOHC engine that produces consistent torque at low rpm and excellent performance at high rpm; making power delivery well balanced throughout a broad rev range. Additionally, a compact throttle body and an exhaust pipe further assure the bike's sprinting responsiveness.
Combustion efficiency is enhanced with an iridium spark plug along with precise metering fuel from the Programmed Fuel Injection system (PGM-FI). The CRF250L has a new six-speed gearbox and clutch, designed to deal with the extra stress when off-road riding.
With its reputation as an off-road traveler, the CRF250L has expected motocross handling capabilities, maintaining correct rigidity balance, which is suitable for use over a wide range of terrain and speeds. The braced handlebar provides an upright and relaxed riding posture, with plenty of leverage, and 45 degrees turning angles on either side give a tight turning circle.
Pro-Link rear suspension and Showa shock absorbers, together with the CRF250L's 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels add up to absolute dependability when it comes to control and stability.
A slim fuel tank which holds up 7.7 liters is enclosed with a comfortable flat seat, while a seat height of 875mm is purposeful for adventure riders. Other enclosures include a 10.7 kW heat-release radiator with polypropylene grill for cooling and better airflow; a thin guide-ring cooling fan; and an O2 Lambda sensor, which functions with a secondary air injection system. The bike complies to Euro III emissions
The new CBR1000RR is available from 14 August in Pearl Sunbeam White at the nett selling price of RM96,500.00 and Victory Red and Graphite Black at the nett selling price of RM95,900.00. The CBR1000RR C-ABS, which is equipped with Honda's electronically-controlled Combined Anti-Lock Brake System, is available at the nett selling price of RM107,600 for Pearl Sunbeam White and RM107,000 for Victory Red and Graphite Black. Meanwhile, the adventurer Honda CRF250L comes in Extreme Red at the nett selling price of RM22,688.00, with validity due for the end of August.
